4 Local Makeup Products That You Definitely Need To Try!

2:14 PM

In today's post, I'll be sharing with you some of my favorite local (Philippine) makeup products. I just want to say though, as a disclaimer, that this post is only based so far on what I've already tried from the local market

I don't dislike local makeup products. In fact, I do enjoy finding ones that are affordable and of good quality. Seeing new brands on Instagram excites me as well. However, I haven't tried a lot of local products yet since I've had my fair share of disappointments in the past. That is why I make sure that before buying something, I try to find good reviews first because no matter how cheap the product is I still don't want to waste my money if it's not any good.

But lately, I've been noticing that local brands have been stepping up their game and are coming up with new products that I heard are really good! Anyway, let's get started with this post! 😊

Around mid last year, I started trying local products again and found really interesting ones. There are still quite a few products that I wanted to add on this list but decided to just include the best of the best for me. These are what I'd grab, any day, without even thinking just because I know that I can use them and never go wrong.

Maybe a part two next time to include other products? Anyway, here are 4 makeup products from local brands that I think you should definitely try!

Pinkies Collections Duo Eyeshadows

These eyeshadows are actually sold individually. I think the matte ones are P70 and the shimmery ones are P75. I even got two of these before with an additional 10% off during a sale! It's so affordable and really good at the same time!! I also love the fact that the palette that it comes with is actually free! You get either a free single eyeshadow compact if you buy one or a free double eyeshadow palette if you buy two. Such a good deal! 😍

These eyeshadow palettes are actually my favorite out of the four items that I'll be sharing today. These are very pigmented as you'll see in the swatches below. They go on smoothly and last really well, the entire day, even without primer.

The shimmery dark brown eyeshadow is called Rootbeer (cute name hehe) while the matte dark brown shade didn't have any name written on its plastic package.

The matte cream eyeshadow in this next palette is called Skintone, which is very apt, while the shimmery gold one also didn't have any name on its package.

The left eyeshadow on this last palette is called Tangerine which is a bright orange shade. The one on the right is called Hot Apricot and is a bright red orange shade. This is very useful for creating Korean orange eye makeup looks! I also learned from watching Amelia Liana's Youtube videos that you can actually use an orange eyeshadow for the crease - for transitions and all that stuff which I know nothing about lol - when creating an eye makeup look.

I love that the matte shades aren't patchy at all. The shimmery ones are also amazing because there are no big chunks of glitters or shimmers in any of it. I also like that the free palette feels so sturdy and is also very compact!

It also comes with a mirror that is actually useful lol!

Pinkies Collections Smooth Silky Long Liner Pencils in Bubblegum, Atlantic and Nude

I think I purchased these lip liners for only P85 each which is really affordable! My favorite out of the three that I own is the shade Atlantic, as you can probably tell by the picture below since it's already way shorter than the other two haha. Atlantic is a brown, grayish shade. What I like about it is that it doesn't wash me out even if it has a gray tone to it.

The next shade is Bubblegum. It's not a bubblegum pink shade as you might probably expect because of the name. This is actually a dark reddish brown shade. My least favorite out of the three is this last shade called Nude. This is the one that I don't like the most because it washes me out. This is a lovely peachy pink nude shade though so I'm gutted that it didn't work for me at all.

What I really like about these lip liners is that they are so creamy and very pigmented! 💖

These are very easy to apply as they are really creamy. The texture of these lip liners makes it feel as if you're applying a creamy lipstick instead of your usual dry lip liner. The only downside is that because of that, these are not really transfer-proof. But on the plus side, they don't feel heavy on the lips at all. I also love that for the price, these lip liners are way longer than the usual lip liners out there. Longer than a regular Mongol pencil (yes, that's my reference haha)!

San San HD Creamy Matte Lip Stain in Subdued Choco

This product, in my opinion, is more like a liquid lipstick than it is a lip stain. I've only discovered this recently and I purchased this for P180 in an HBC store. I was also looking for the shade Dark Mocha as well but I couldn't find it anywhere so I only got this shade.

I was expecting this to be a muted purple shade based on swatches I saw online. However, when I swatched it on my arms, I found that it is more red than it is purple. It sort of reminds me of Colourpop's Bad Habit but only less reddish. But I also found that when it completely dries, it turns into a lovely dark dusty mauve shade with a tinge of purple in it. The scent is a little bit strong but it reminds me of Pancake House's Vanilla Milkshake so I really don't mind haha!

and San San HD Creamy Matte Lip Stain in Subdued Choco.

It takes a couple of seconds before it dries completely on your lips. It also depends on how much product you actually apply. I usually put about two layers of this and I don't find it patchy at all. It also doesn't clump when you build it up with more layers which is really nice. But it is very pigmented though so you can get away even with just one layer.

The quality of this lip stain actually reminds me of the satin range of Colourpop's Liquid Lipsticks. I'm actually amazed that this specific shade isn't drying at all and that it didn't emphasize any lines on my lips. I also like that this feels so lightweight and comfortable! It also lasts a couple of hours on my lips. I find that this lasts about the same time that my Colourpop Liquid Lipsticks do. The only thing that I don't like is that it is a bit tacky which is very noticeable whenever you purse your lips.

Fashion 21 Color Mood Lipstick In Mystical Mauve

The first three items on this list are just recent discoveries of mine but this last one is an exception since I've had this for quite some time now. I heard good things about this lipstick a few years ago (I definitely need a new tube already haha) and I wasn't disappointed at all as this is really good! It is creamy and has sort of a satin finish to it. But you can definitely turn this matte when you blot your lips with tissue after applying it on.

This seems like a peachy, reddish shade on the swatch below but when applied on the lips, it actually is a neutral brown shade. It's not really a mauve shade as its name suggests. This is perfect for those who are looking for an MLBB lipstick or for those who are just starting out with makeup.

I'm not really a fan of its packaging but I couldn't care less if I'm getting a good quality lipstick for the price of only P100.

And that's it for my 4 favorite local makeup products! These are really good ones and I'm sure that you won't regret buying them! I really think that these brands should be given much more attention for the quality and affordability of their products. We should all definitely support local! 😊
