Japan Travelogue: Tokyo Day 3 (Imperial Palace, Shinjuku and Don Quijote)

9:36 PM

We went to the Imperial Palace on our third day in Tokyo. It rained just as we arrived so it was a bit hard to roam the grounds. Good thing the rain only lasted a while (and not the entire day!) so we were still able to explore and take a lot of pictures. There were many people when we visited but this place is really huge so it didn't matter at all. There were a lot of Cherry Blossom trees inside so I took a lot of photos and enjoyed staring at these for quite some time.

The rain stopped after a while but it still made the city look a bit gloomy. This, however, didn't stop us from exploring this serene and beautiful place.

On our way back to the train station.

We were supposed to go to the Ghibli Museum this day but the tickets were already sold out! So we just decided to visit Hamazushi after, which is the largest conveyor belt sushi chain in Japan. This is really a great restaurant to visit if you're planning a trip here soon. I think they only have this one branch in Tokyo, which is located at the Prime Gate building in Shinjuku. The price per plate starts at 100 yen but it also varies depending on what dish is in the plate. So affordable and delicious!

The food here was really good! There are a lot of other choices aside from sushi, such as, coffee, cakes, rice cakes and other yummy desserts! You can specifically order a dish using the monitor in your table if you want anything other than the ones in the conveyor belt. Don't forget to try the candied taro if you are going to visit this place! It's really gooood!!

After eating lunch at Hamazushi, we then walked the streets of Shinjuku. We still rode the train from here going to the shops in Shinjuku. It was very tiring because the malls and shops here are a little farther from each other compared to Shibuya

Gloomy and cold day in Shinjuku.

Spotted a crow in the city!

Can you see the big crab display in this picture? Haha!

Shinjuku at night.

This is the Don Quijote branch in Shinjuku! This was where I got my haul that I posted here as well.

That's it for the third day of our Japan trip! After having dinner and shopping at Don Quijote, we then decided to call it a day and went back to our hotel. It was a very tiring day because there was a lot of walking involved and add to this the fact that it also rained quite a bit. But being able to see these wonderful places and eat really good food made all the tiredness worth it

Next up will be all about our trip to Tokyo Disneyland! Stay tuned! 😊
