MAC Week: MAC Studio Finish Concealer

7:23 PM

I bought this MAC Studio Finish Concealer for my graduation since I was looking for something that is a bit heavy-duty to use for my dark under eye circles. I purchased the shade NC30 which has a yellow undertone to it. It also has an SPF 35 so it's great to use for dark circles, blemishes and spots if you're out in the sun most of the time.

I bought this at the MAC pop-up store in Trinoma. This concealer comes in the same black, plastic pot that is typical of MAC products. It is very sturdy but lightweight. It's also quite small so it's very easy to tote around in your bag or makeup pouch.

For its size, it still contains a lot of product at 7g. It also shuts tightly so you don't have to worry about it getting all over your bag.

I just use my finger whenever I apply this concealer under my eyes. It is very creamy and thick though, which makes it a bit difficult to work with especially when covering my dark circles. What I just do is I warm it up between my fingers first before blending it in. I find that it tugs my skin and creases if I don't do that as a pre-step. However, for concealing blemishes and spots this works like a dream! Aside from the fact that it matches my current skin tone perfectly, it blends very well and really covers what needs to be covered seamlessly. For blemishes and spots, I usually use a concealer brush and seal it in by tapping the area with my finger.

Here are the swatches of this concealer:

I think that this concealer is really good for covering blemishes and spots but isn't really ideal for under the eyes mainly because of the tugging. Just basing on reviews I've read online, I think that the MAC Prolongwear Concealer would work much better for under the eyes. This is still a great buy for me though since I just now basically use this for blemishes and spots. I don't really mind because I've already found a much better concealer for my dark under circles and that is the NARS Radiant Creamy Concealer

How about you, what's your favorite concealer? 😊

UPDATE (07/03/2016): I've enjoyed using this concealer last summer just because the texture was much softer and more workable because of the heat. Instant warm up as I didn't need to melt it between my fingers anymore. I also found another use for this and that is in creating a Korean gradient lip look. I've been into Korean makeup again since I've been watching Meejmuse and Speishi a lot lately, and since I've just finished watching Beauty Bible S/S 2016 last month! So I think I might use this concealer again for creating that kind of lip look instead.
