BEARSTOWN SKI RESORT

We spent our Day 3 in Korea at the Bearstown Ski Resort located in Poechon-si, Gyeonggi-do. The Bearstown Ski Resort is one of the ski resorts within Seoul that you can visit in wintertime. We were actually thinking of going to the Vivaldi Ski Resort but it is farther from the city - about 5 hours away. Since we just wanted to get our first skiing experience, we settled with Bearstown. It's still a bit far but you can choose between two options to get here - either through public transportation (which is what we did) or through their bus shuttle. Head over to their official site here or at Visit Korea if you want to know more about this resort or to get more detailed instructions on how to get here.

According to Visit Korea, it can take up to 3 hours to get from the Incheon International Airport to Bearstown Ski Resort. Upon checking Google Maps, it would take about 2 hours to get here from where we stayed in Jung-nu area. But it took us a little longer than that since we got a bit lost (haha) and I think the bus ride was more than an hour and a half. We first took the subway via Line 2 (Green line) to the Gangbyeon Station, which is where the Dong Seoul Bus Terminal is located. Google Maps will tell you that Bus No. 11, which is the bus that will take you to Bearstown, is inside the Dong Seoul Bus Terminal. But it's actually not there! It took us a while to figure out since it didn't help that most of the people we asked pointed us there. Good thing we didn't listen to them or we would have found ourselves somewhere south of Seoul haha!

When you exit Gangbyeon Station, you would see two things right before you. One is the Dong Seoul Shopping Mall, where the bus terminal is located, and an apartment building/complex to its right. The bus stop for Bus No. 11 is actually in front of that apartment complex. You won't miss it because there are a number of street food kiosks there too. We were actually about to lose hope so we just ate peanut butter waffles first outside the subway station before looking for the bus stop again. 😅

After the quest to find the bus stop, we were able to board Bus No. 11. The travel took a while but I really enjoyed the ride and the view. When you get off at the Bearstown Ski Resort bus stop, you'd have to walk about 15 min to get to the ski resort. You'll pass by a lot of Ski & Board Rental shops before getting there so you won't really get lost.

The view here is breathtaking! It feels so peaceful - away from the hustle and bustle of the city.

Here's the entrance to the resort - the road here is uphill so it can get a bit tiring. They also have accommodations here so if you want to stay the night and ski more, you can definitely do so.

We didn't buy tickets beforehand and we just purchased them when we got here. We chose the AM Day Ticket (59,000 won, 4 hours) and we also rented ski gear (21,000 won) and clothing (15,000 won). After getting our tickets, we went to claim our gear and clothing so we could start skiing right away.

These are the 2017 ticket prices and rental fees. You can head over to their official site if you want to see the updated fees since this is a little bit outdated already hehe.

There were a lot of people, mostly locals and kids, when we visited. Most of them were having ski lessons. I haven't tried skiing until this day so this was actually an exciting time for me! We just stayed at the easy slope since we didn't really know how to ski yet. I didn't want to move at first because it felt like my boots were pushing through my shins and the ski clothing was weighing me down. I actually feared that my shin would break or that I would fall on my butt haha!

But, it was really fun even though I fell most of the time! This was all the more memorable because while skiing one of my favorite Korean songs, Some by Soyou and Junggigo, played in the background. It actually motivated me to ski lol! But, it would have been perfect if I was skiing with someone special though just because it gave the Kdrama feels hahaha!

We still managed to practice and learn skiing just on our own and even if it was a bit crowded. I was so happy that before we left, I made it all the way to the bottom of the slope without falling! Achievement unlocked, so I took the next photo as proof hehe.

There's a snack house down the hill too so you can eat if ever you get tired from all the falling, I mean skiing, hehe.

After we maxed out our day trip, we headed to the bus stop and rode a different bus that's headed back to Gangbyeon Station.

MYEONGDONG SHOPPING DISTRICT

After our day trip to Bearstown Ski Resort, we visited Myeongdong, again, for the nth time haha! This is what it looks like at night, when it can really get crowded.

We had dinner at the Chir Chir Fusion Chicken Factory, which is one of our favorite restaurants here in Myeongdong. The next picture is their Rosemary Oven Roast.

The atmosphere here is really nice and cozy. Perfect when you're already tired from all the walking and shopping. Took a picture of their Raspberry Sparkling Drink too!

We especially enjoyed their Crispy Fried Chicken and our favorite Bomb Rice Rolls!! After this, we called it a night because we were already tired from all the walking and skiing we did. But, it was really a day well spent even if we got a bit lost hehe!

Hope you enjoyed this mini trip to the Bearstown Ski Resort and Myeongdong, and found this helpful too if ever you're going to visit Korea in the future!

Stay tuned for the next travelogue, where we spent our day in the city to visit the Jongmyo Shrine, Gyeongbokgung Palace and Namsan tower! 😊
